WESTERVILLE – Four members of the Otterbein University volleyball program earned All-OAC recognition this season, highlighted by two First Team selections and two Second Team honorees.
On the First Team, sophomore Emerson Baum and senior Olivia Vitaz were each recognized after standout seasons leading the Cardinals statistically in their respective roles.
The team leader in kills (302), Baum earns her first First Team nod. She ranked second in the OAC with 3.39 kills per set, while recording a career-high 24 kills earlier this fall. Baum also led the Cardinals in solo blocks (15) and block assists (75). She was named OAC Player of the Week three times, reflecting her consistent impact throughout the conference slate.
Vitaz joins Baum on the First Team after guiding the Otterbein offense all year. The senior setter totaled 686 assists, including a career-high 57 in a single match, and surpassed the 2,000 career assist milestone this fall. Vitaz finished third in the OAC in total assists and received OAC Player of the Week once during the season.
On the Second Team, senior Maddie Mergen and junior Lexi Scott were each acknowledged for their production and consistency.
Mergen delivered 170 kills on the year, ranking fourth on the team, and stood third in points per set (2.53). She posted a season-high of 18 kills while adding a season-best seven blocks twice.
Scott put together a strong season, finishing second on the team in total kills (272). She also ranked second in both kills per set (3.02) and points per set (3.14), and has recorded double-digit kills in each of Otterbein's last six matches.
Otterbein secured the No. 2 seed in the OAC Tournament and will host Muskingum in the semifinals on Thursday at 7 p.m. inside the Rike Center.
