Carpenter, Smith lead Women’s Outdoor Track and Field at Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER —  The Otterbein women's outdoor track and field team finished second at the two-day Wooster Invitational on Friday and Saturday, with senior Peyton Carpenter winning the javelin and freshman Anastasia Smith setting a personal best to take first in shot put and move into fifth on the school's all-time records list.

The Basics
  • Venue: John P. Papp Stadium - Wooster, Ohio
  • The invitational consisted of a mix of NCAA Division II and III teams.
  • Otterbein secured second place among nine teams, scoring 95 points. Mount Union took first place with 164 points, and John Carroll was third with 85 points.

Otterbein's Top Performers - Running Events 
  • 4x100m relay - Taking second were freshmen Natalie Nichols and Mallory Bostick, sophomore Genevieve Legawiec and junior Charlie Dolliver in 50.89 seconds. 
  • 5000m - In second was senior Alyssa Mattis with a time of 19:10.58, and in third was sophomore Ava Stratmann in 19:22.02. 
  • 200m - Nichols took second with a time of 26.29 seconds.
  • 4x400m - With a second place finish was Nichols, Bostick, junior Rachel Bollo and freshman Maggie Moon with a time of 4:14.00. 
  • 400m Hurdles - Dolliver finished third in a time of 1:12.07, and junior Kayla Bruce finished fifth in 1:13.45.
  • 100m Hurdles - Dolliver ran a time of 15.84 seconds to place sixth.
Otterbein's Top Performers - Field Events
  • Javelin - Carpenter won the event, throwing a distance of 33.61m, and in eighth was freshman Keerstin Farson-Mantor with a mark of 23.58m. 
  • Shot Put - Smith won with a distance of 12.99m, and in fourth was Carpenter with a 12.05m mark. In eighth was sophomore Landry Driskel with a 11.44m mark, and right behind in ninth was freshman Tori McGowan with a 10.87m mark.
  • Discus - Driskel placed third with a throw of 38.68m, and senior Ravyn Goodson was fourth with a 37.52m mark. Finishing in seventh was freshman Kendra Detillion with a throw of 35.51m. 
  • Pole Vault - Freshman Rylea Durham cleared a height of 2.53m to place ninth.

  • Dolliver ranks third all-time in the heptathlon (3,445 points, 2025).
  • Legawiec ranks fourth overall in the 400m hurdles (1:05.08, 2024).
  • Driskel ranks fourth all-time in discus (41.40m, 2025).
  • Goodson is tied for fifth overall in hammer throw (39.98m, 2024) and ranks ninth in discus (38.21m, 2024).
  • In the hammer throw, sophomore Amelia Dailey is tied for fifth (39.98m, 2025) with Goodson (39.98m,2024), and Detillion sits in ninth (35.04m, 2025).
  • Smith is now fifth all-time in shot put with a personal-best of 12.99m. 
  • Carpenter ranks seventh all-time in javelin (35.91m, 2025).
