WESTERVILLE -- In their 2026 spring opener, the Ottebein University men's tennis team battled hard, but ultimately fell 5-2 to Asbury

Otterbein secured three victories on the day, highlighted by a strong doubles  performance from Jake Chilcote and Nikita Kitaev at No. 2, who earned a 6–3 win to lead the Cardinals' efforts in doubles play.

The Cardinals showed resilience across the lineup, competing in several extended matches, including multiple three-set battles.

In singles action, Sanjan Shanker delivered a decisive straight-set victory (6–2, 6–3) at No. 2, while Chilcote battled through a tightly contested three-set match to claim a thrilling 6–4, 5–7, [11–9] win at No. 4.

In a short turn around, the Cardinals hit the courts next tomorrow on the road at Kenyon. Doubles matches will kick off at 3 p.m.
