Men's tennis wraps up fall slate at Big Red Invitational

GRANVILLE, Ohio – Over the weekend, some members of the Otterbein University men's tennis team were in action at the Big Red Invitational.

In the first round of doubles play, Halen Hamstead and Neil Reddy fell to Ngo and Fernandez of Case Western Reserve, 6-3.

In singles play, Reddy fell to Oberlin's Christian Pak by a 6-2, 6-4 score. Reddy rebounded with a big win in his next match over Vincent Cantana (BW), 6-4, 6-4.

Hamstead also fell in his first singles match, 6-4, 6-4, to Baldwin Wallace's Severin Kretchmar. He went on to knock off BW's Caleb Goff in the next round by a large 6-1, 6-2 margin.

Konwei Duong fell in a tight matchup against Sam Dalessandro of Baldwin Wallace, 7-6(5), 5-7, 10-4. In the second round of singles, Duong dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Joe Donnelly (BW).

Sunday doubles action saw Nikita Kitaev and Jake Chilcote defeat the tandem from Oberlin, 6-4. The duo claimed victory in their next match against a second Oberlin squad, 6-3. Duong and Elivh Perez dropped their doubles matches, both against Oberlin teams, 6-1 and 6-0.

Chilcote won his first singles match on Sunday, 7-6(5) and 6-4. Kitaev dropped a tough match to Thorstein Johansson of Oberlin, 2-6, 7-6(4), 10-4. Perez and Duong rounded out the day, falling in their singles matchups.

The team will be idle until mid-February when the spring season kicks off.
