WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Hosting the All-Ohio Indoor Championships inside the Clements Recreation Center, the Otterbein University track and field teams turned in strong performances Saturday afternoon. The men finished third out of 16 teams with 80 points, while the women placed fifth with 53 points. Baldwin Wallace captured the men's title (130.50 points), while Ohio Wesleyan led the women's standings (150.5).
All-Ohio recognition was awarded to the top three finishers in each event.
The Cardinals saw immediate success in the distance medley relays. On the women's side, Ollie Smith, Rachel Bollo, Gigi Leiter and Kate Thormeier claimed first place to earn All-Ohio honors. The men's team of Henry Barnes, Cam Smart, Vince Catalano and Caleb Rafferty followed with a runner-up finish in 10:36.98, also securing All-Ohio recognition.
Senior Payne Ratliff led the way on the track, capturing the All-Ohio title in the 5,000m with a winning time of 15:03.01. Junior Brady Pugh followed in fourth (15:29.67). On the women's side, junior Abby Kobs ran a personal-best 19:23.15 to finish sixth, while freshman Grace Blonde placed seventh (19:39.95).
Junior Izaac Swope earned All-Ohio honors in the 60m hurdles, winning the event in 8.25 after clocking a personal-best 8.16 in prelims. Smart added a sixth-place finish (8.82). Senior Charlie Dolliver finished fifth in the women's hurdles (9.30).
In the field events, junior Richmond Honkpo placed second in the long jump with a leap of 6.92m to earn All-Ohio recognition. Sophomore Jaret Harting followed in third (6.88m), also earning All-Ohio honors. On the women's side, Dolliver secured an All-Ohio finish in the long jump with a third-place mark of 5.07m, while freshman Addy Westbrooks recorded a personal-best 4.83m to place sixth.
Dolliver later claimed the All-Ohio championship in the triple jump, winning the event with a mark of 11.03m. Junior Madison Gray (9.66m) and sophomore Carlisha Bell (9.21m) finished seventh and eighth, respectively. Honkpo added a fourth-place finish in the men's triple jump (12.96m), while Harting placed 10th (12.27m).
Sophomore Anastasia Smith delivered an All-Ohio performance in the shot put, placing second with a throw of 12.78m. Sophomore Kendra Detillion added a ninth-place mark of 11.35m. Smith also recorded a personal-best 15.28m in the weight throw to finish eighth. Freshman Lisbon James posted a personal-best 13.97m in the men's shot put to place ninth.
In the high jump, sophomore Joab Bockstoce cleared 1.96m to finish third and earn All-Ohio recognition. Junior Gabe Scialdone placed ninth (1.80m). On the women's side, Addy Westbrooks cleared 1.48m to finish seventh.
The men's 4x200m relay team of Jack Van Fossen, Swope, Logan Smith and Peyton Smith placed fifth (1:32.53), while the women's squad of Allie Mongold, Leiter, Sienna Westbrooks and Addy Westbrooks finished eighth (1:51.06). The men's 4x400m relay team of Grant Hartley, Quintin Conrad, Marquez Whitehead and Van Fossen ended the meet in eighth (3:30.03).
Additional scoring performances included Mitch Green (5th, mile – 4:27.62), Whitehead (6th, 400m – 51.53), Catalano (10th, 800m – 2:02.41), Caleb Rafferty (6th, 3,000m – 8:55.31), Thormeier (8th, 3,000m – 10:50.76, PR), and Mimi Wegener (10th, pole vault – 3.27m).
The Cardinals return to action Friday, February 20 at the Ohio Wesleyan Tune-Up Meet.
