Winters, Heckman honored with NABC accolades

Andy Winters was named the District 7 Co-Coach of the Year while Julian Heckman was a First Team All-District honoree.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. More well-deserved accolades rolled in Tuesday for the Otterbein University men's basketball program, as Julian Heckman earned NABC All-District 7 First Team honors while head coach Andy Winters was named District 7 Co-Coach of the Year.

Heckman caps his career as one of the most accomplished players in program history. The Reynoldsburg native secured All-OAC honors three times and finished ranked 25th on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,224 points. He also dished out 401 career assists, good for fifth in school history. Heckman will represent Otterbein in this weekend's NABC Division III College All-Star Game and recently collected D3hoops.com All-Region Third Team accolades.

Winters continues to elevate the Cardinals, guiding the program to a 23-6 overall record in his seventh season at the helm, earning him OAC Co-Coach of the Year honors. Otterbein spent much of the second half of the season ranked in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll and secured an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament, marking the program's first appearance since 2002. Winters reached a career milestone on Jan. 28, earning his 100th victory with an 86-70 win over Baldwin Wallace.
