Women's golf wins Otterbein Thaw Out, Dickson notches medalist honors

HARRODSBURG, Ky. – The Otterbein University women's golf team made a statement in its spring opener over the weekend, winning the Otterbein Thaw Out with a two-day total of 641. Semester transfer Olivia Dickson made an immediate impact, earning medalist honors with scores of 80-78 – 158.

Otterbein shot a two-day total of 318-323 – 641 to claim first place.  The Cardinals won the event by 82 strokes, creating momentum to head into the spring portion of the slate. 

Dickson's 158 led the Cardinals, as Morgan Wamer finished second overall with rounds of 80-79 – 159. Senior Alexa Luebbe shot an 80-82 – 162 to place third and secure Cardinals in the top three spots of the event. Sophomore Mia Chanthasene (81-85 – 166) and freshman Mia Lewis tied for fifth (82-84 – 166), with both recording season-lows in the Saturday round. Aimee Hayes rounded out the squad, posting a total of 78-89 – 167, registering a season-best with Saturday's 78.

On the men's side, the Cardinals finished first to sweep the event for Otterbein.

Otterbein will be in action Mar. 29-30 at the Muskingum Invitational, hosted by the Cambridge Country Club and Muskingum University.
