Women's Golf Finishes Second at OAC Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE, OHIO — The Otterbein women's golf team competed this weekend at the three-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, held at River Greens Golf Course. All three 18-hole rounds were contested on the Pines and Greens courses, with play concluding on Sunday. The Cardinals capped off the championship by claiming second with a team score of 983. Otterbein led at different points on Sunday, but Ohio Northern produced a strong finish with a score of 325, to win the championship at 978.
 
After opening the tournament with an 82, Alexa Luebbe worked her way into contention with a strong performance on Saturday. She closed the round on a high note, sticking her tee shot on the par-3 16th to set up a birdie opportunity that she confidently converted. The senior fired a score of 77 to trail by three entering Sunday's final round. She added another birdie on Sunday, closing the round with an 83 (243) to finish as Otterbein's top individual performer in third place.
 
The Cardinals showcased the depth of their lineup, with every student-athlete finishing inside the top 15 of the field. Junior Aimee Hayes recorded three birdies over the weekend, including closing both Saturday and Sunday with a birdie on the par‑5 18th hole. She finished the tournament with a total score of 249, earning a 12th-place finish.
 
Teammate Morgan Wamer opened the tournament with an up-and-down round that included three birdies, finishing day one with an 84. She bounced back with consistent performances on the final two days, carding back-to-back rounds of 82 to finish the championship at 248, earning an 11th-place finish.
 
Mia Chanthasene finished tied for 13th after posting rounds of 84 and 83 on the opening two days, followed by another 84 on Sunday to conclude the championship at 251 (+35). Olivia Dickson sunk a birdie putt on Friday on the par-3 2nd hole and would get better each day after opening with an 88. She carded a +6 round of 78 on Saturday and a round of 85 on Sunday to also tie for 13th.
 
Entering Sunday's final round, Otterbein trailed by two shots after posting rounds of 338 and 317 for a 655 total. Ohio Northern held the 36-hole lead with rounds of 330 and 323, while Mount Union sat in third place at 661 (328, 333), six shots back.

With the victory, Ohio Northern earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships, scheduled for May 19-22 at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, California.
 
The Cardinals have won three of the past 12 OAC championships (2015, 2022, 2023) and have finished as the OAC runner-up seven times in that span. They wrap up the 2025-26 season as winners of the OAC Spring Invitational, Otterbein Easter Leftovers, Muskingum Invitational, Otterbein Thaw-Out and the Polar Bear Classic.
