Eight garner All-Region recognition in track and field

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Eight Otterbein athletes across 10 different events were named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region honors, as announced on Thursday.

Ohio Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Year Richmond Honkpo led a group of six Cardinals on the men's team. Honkpo garnered honors in both the long jump and triple jump after capturing the OAC title in the triple jump and qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships in the long jump.

Sophomore Joab Bockstoce received all-region recognition in the high jump, finishing the season ranked third in the Great Lakes Region with a season-best clearance of 2.03 meters. Junior Brady Pugh put together a breakout campaign in the 3000m steeplechase, ending the year fifth in the region.

Senior Payne Ratliff earned all-region honors in the 10,000 meters after posting a season-best 31:05.02 at the OAC Championships, ranking sixth overall in the region. OAC champion Izaac Swope secured all-region recognition in the 110m hurdles after clocking a personal-best 14.29 at the Mount Union Last Chance Meet, finishing second in the Great Lakes Region.

Rounding out the honorees was Marquez Whitehead in the 400m hurdles. Whitehead recorded a season-best time of 54.44 at the All-Ohio Championships to finish eighth in the region.

Charlie Dolliver and Anastasia Smith were the two Cardinal honorees from the women's team.

Like Honkpo, Dolliver earned all-region recognition in two events, the 100m hurdles and triple jump. The Ohio Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Year is set to compete Saturday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the triple jump.

Smith rounded out the Otterbein selections in the shot put. Smith posted a season-best throw of 13.47 meters to finish fourth in the Great Lakes Region in the event.
