WESTERVILLE, Ohio — After an incredible week by the (RV) Otterbein volleyball team, Emerson Baum has been named the OAC Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week. This marks the second time this season a Cardinal has been selected for the accolade (Lexi Scott, Sep. 8). 

Baum, a junior middle blocker, powered the Cardinals to a 4-1 week, highlighted by wins over two AVCA Top 25 programs. 

On Tuesday, Otterbein recorded a 3-1 win at Kenyon College before an impressive weekend up north. On Friday, the Cardinals swept No. 16 Wisconsin-Whitewater where Baum tallied 11 kills. In Otterbein's lone loss of the week to a talented Colorado College squad, the junior floored 17 kills to lead Otterbein in the effort.

Baum picked up right where she left off on Saturday. After a sweep of Cortland, Baum was instrumental in the 3-1 victory over No. 15 Calvin. She ended the contest with 12 kills and three total blocks. 

For the week, Baum swung at a .328 clip, with a sparkling .378 mark in the Colorado College competition. She contributed 11 aces and 17 total blocks, with six aces coming in Tuesday's win over the Owls.

The Cardinals will head to Kentucky on Saturday for two matches. Otterbein will face off against (RV) Dubuque at 2:30 p.m. followed by the host Transylvania at 5 p.m.
