MARIETTA, OHIO – Otterbein fell victim to a late Pioneer run and suffered a 69-55 loss at Marietta Wednesday evening.
The game remained close at the opening, with Otterbein taking a 14-11 lead after a jumper from sophomore Tyler Devoll with 11:24 showing on the first half game clock.
Marietta fought back and eventually opened up a 26-19 lead with 5:52 remaining before intermission.
OC responded again, and went to halftime down 34-33 as a result of Marietta’s Tyler Worstell draining a three-pointer to beat the buzzer.
The game remained a one-possession contest for the first 13 minutes of the second half, as the game stood locked at 51-51 with just over six minutes remaining.
The Pioneers then went on an 11-0 run over the next four minutes, and out-scored the Cardinals 18-4 over the final six-plus minutes overall to earn a 69-55 win.
Senior Cory Ratai led OC with 12 points, while sophomore Chris Davis nearly missed a double-double with ten points and nine boards.
Kevin Knab poured in 17 points to lead Marietta.
Otterbein managed to make just 1-of-15 attempts from three-point range.
The team returns home to play host to Baldwin-Wallace Saturday evening in the Rike Center. Game-time is set for 7:30 p.m.
