Tennis Teams Head to OAC Semi's

WESTERVILLE, OHIO--Both the Otterbein University men's and women's tennis teams advanced to the OAC Tournament semifinals scheduled for Friday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center located in Mason.

The third-seeded men's team, behind a 5-0 win over Heidelberg University in the quarterfinals, will face second-seeded John Carroll University at 1 p.m. followed by the fourth-seeded women's team, a 5-0 winner over the University of Mount Union, taking on top-seeded Ohio Northern University at 4:30 p.m.

The Otterbein men's team, 12-10 overall, swept past Heidelberg, winning all three doubles matches on its way to the 5-0 victory in the quarterfinals played at home Tuesday. The first team to post wins on five courts advances in tournament play. Senior Philipp Caprasse and junior Ryan Roberts took wins at third and sixth singles, respectively, for the final two points.

The women's team, 14-8 overall, took all three doubles matches as well on its way to a 5-0 win over Mount Union in the quarterfinals played Wednesday in Westerville. Sophomore Taylor Jordan, at second singles, and senior Kylie Hammons, at fourth singles, won to close out the Cardinal scoring.

In the other semifinal matches Friday, top-seeded Ohio Northern plays fourth-seeded Baldwin-Wallace College on the men's side while second-seeded Baldwin-Wallace takes on third-seeded John Carroll University in the women's.

The finals are scheduled for Saturday at Lindner with the men's championship slated for 10 a.m. followed by the women's at 2 p.m.
