WESTERVILLE, OHIO – The Otterbein baseball team opened Ohio Athletic Conference play with a split against visiting Mount Union (14-6, 1-1 OAC) Saturday at Fishbaugh Field, winning game one 6-0 before falling 11-2 in the second outing.

Otterbein (14-8, 1-1 OAC) drew first blood in game one with five runs in the third inning, started off by three-straight hits from Caleb Woodson, Greg Moomaw, and Wes Meadows. The Cardinals later took advantage of a pair of Purple Raider errors en route to batting around the order.

AJ Finlay
The lead would be more than enough for senior Dustin Reuter (5-1), who was spectacular on the mound with a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits and striking out 11 batters.

Moomaw finished the game 3 for 4 with two runs scored, while Thomas Linder and AJ Finlay each tallied two hits as well.

The Cardinals would not be as fortunate in game two, falling behind 4-1 after four innings and seeing the Raiders add four more in the seventh frame for an 8-1 advantage.

Otterbein managed one run in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Meadows, but the damage was done as Mount left with an 11-2 victory.

The Cardinals remain at home for the next week, hosting doubleheaders with Heidelberg (Tuesday) and Ohio Northern (Friday).
