WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Three members of the Otterbein University baseball team were decorated with Second Team All-OAC honors, as announced Monday morning. JT Gels, Nick Mealey and Jack Barber were all honored by the league.
Barber was the leading hitter for the Cardinals, turning a .322 average, .339 in conference play. The freshman catcher drove in 23 runs and smacked a team-best 48 hits while starting 35 of Otterbein's 36 games. Consistent in the two spot in the lineup, Barber led the Cardinals with 15 multi-hit games.
Gels appeared in all 36 games this season, ending the year with a .317 batting average. The sophomore added 21 RBI, seven doubles and three home runs, boasting a .519 slugging percentage in OAC games. He finished the year on a high note, recording four or more hits in four of Otterbein's final seven games.
Mealey was Otterbein's number one on the bump this season, striking out 67 hitters in 65.2 innings of work. In conference-only action, the freshman posted an ERA of 2.77 with a 2-1 record. He recorded double-digit strikeouts twice and finished the year tossing seven shutout innings at Capital.
The Cardinals concluded the 2026 campaign with a 10-26 overall record and a sixth place finish in the OAC standings.
