FLORENCE, Ky. – Otterbein University picked up a doubleheader sweep Sunday afternoon, topping Earlham College by scores of 13-4 and 8-1 at Champion Window Field.

The Cardinals improve to 4-1 this season with the victories and return to action Wednesday evening with a single nine-inning game at Division I Wright State University. Starting time is set for 6:30 p.m.

Earlham (3-7) jumped ahead 2-0 after the first inning of the day, but Otterbein quickly responded to post five runs in the top half of the next inning. Sean Kettering led off the frame with a double to center field, followed by a triple from Jordan Ashbrook. An infield single from Scott Staarmann and another hit from Tyler Kent later helped the Cards continue the roll in the inning.

Otterbein plated another five runs in the fifth, and the run support would be enough for Wes Meadows as the senior struck out nine batters over six frames for his first win of the year.

Ashbrook turned in his second impressive game in a row, going 3 for 4 with four RBI and three runs scored. Kent and Thomas Linder each hit 2 for 5 while driving in a pair of runs.

The Cardinals carried the momentum over to game two, tallying four runs over the first two innings and never looking back.

Freshman Adam Collier improved to 3-0 on the mound with the win, surrendering just one run and striking out six batters over 5.2 innings of work.

Kent, Linder, and sophomore Nich Pitzer all recorded multi-hit games, with Pitzerregistering a career-high three RBI.
