Match Results

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein University men’s tennis team opened up Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a 5-4 win over the University of Mount Union Friday afternoon.

The win improves the Cardinals to 8-3 overall this season, 1-0 in league play. Meanwhile, the loss drops the Purple Raiders to 1-1 in the OAC, 9-2 overall.

The reigning player of the week in the OAC, freshman Will Willson, won his OAC debut at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. The Detroit native paired with classmate David Seckel to earn an 8-3 win at first doubles and he carried that momentum into his 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles.

His doubles partner Seckel found similar success in singles competition, winning his matchup at third singles 6-4, 6-4.

Junior Ryan Shutt also earned a pair of victories for Otterbein. He paired up with freshman Zach McDivitt to take No. 2 doubles 8-4 and picked up a well-earned win at No. 2 singles with scores of 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.

The Cardinals return to their home court Friday, April 5, when they host Baldwin Wallace University. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
