Baseball Cards Fall at Wright State

Box Score

DAYTON, Ohio – Otterbein University took a non-conference loss Monday evening, falling 17-6 at Division One Wright State University.

The loss takes Otterbein to 14-4 on the season and the Cardinals will now have a quick turnaround, resuming Ohio Athletic Conference play with a doubleheader at Heidelberg University Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Both teams scored a run in the opening frame, but Wright State (10-14) managed five runs in the second and three in the third to break the game open.

Otterbein faced a double-digit deficit late in the game, but continued to fight and plated four runs in the seventh in part to a three-run blast over the left-field fence from freshman Tyler Kent.

The Raiders would respond with another two runs in the bottom of the inning en route to the win.

Kent finished 2 for 3 with four RBI and a pair of runs scored, while sophomore Sean Kettering tallied two RBI in a 1 for 3 effort at the dish.

Senior Wes Meadows singled with two outs in the ninth inning for his lone hit of the night, helping keep his now 24-game hitting streak alive.

The Cardinals used a committee of pitchers on the mound, with no player tossing more than two innings.
