WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Cardinal men’s tennis team were narrowly defeated by Baldwin Wallace University, 5-4, Friday evening at the Richard A. Sanders Tennis Center.

The loss drops Otterbein University to 8-4 overall, 1-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets improve to 2-0 in league play and maintain their undefeated record at 17-0.

The No. 1 doubles pairing of freshmen Will Willson and David Seckel improved to 9-3 this season with an 8-3 win, while junior Ryan Shutt and freshman Zach McDivitt earned an 8-6 win to give Otterbein a 2-1 lead headed into singles competition.

McDivitt quickly dispatched his opponent in No. 4 singles (6-4, 6-0), but BW claimed both fifth and sixth singles to even the score at 3-3 with the top three pairings yet to be determined.

Although Seckel earned a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles, the Yellow Jackets would claim the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matchups to claim the victory.

Otterbein will hit the courts tomorrow, Saturday April 6, for a 1 p.m. OAC match with Ohio Northern University in Ada.
