Box Score BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Otterbein baseball team got back into the win column Friday afternoon, playing to a 7-6 road victory at Bluffton University in non-conference action.
The Cardinals, now 10-6 on the season, will return to action Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. doubleheader across town at Capital University.
Both teams scored twice in the first inning before Otterbein's Thomas Linder scored on a balk in the second frame to put the team back on top.
Otterbein bumped the lead to 4-2 in the fourth on an RBI-triple from Taylor Hutchison, and Brandon Gooch tallied another RBI-triple in the sixth inning before later scoring on a wild pitch.
Bluffton entered its last at-bat down four runs, but managed to score three times and advancing the tying run to third base with two out. The Cardinals emerged victorious after freshman right-hander Caleb Norton got the final batter to fly out to right field.
Hutchison finished the day 3 for 5 while Mark Walton, David Lemley and Jake Simmerman, who was seeing his first action since suffering an injury on the team's spring break trip, all had two hits.
Sophomore Ben Hamilton improved to 3-0 on the mound while Norton secured his first save.
Mike Castro went 3 for 5 to lead the Bluffton offense, which left 15 runners on base throughout the contest.
