WESTERVILLE, Ohio—The Otterbein University men's tennis team moved into a three-way tie for first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) with a 7-2 win over John Carroll University Saturday in Westerville.

With the win, the Cardinals improved to 11-4 overall and share the top spot in the conference with John Carroll and Baldwin Wallace University, each 4-1 in the league. John Carroll beat the Yellow Jackets, 5-4, while Otterbein lost to Baldwin Wallace, 5-4, earlier this season.

"All the hard work the players put in during fall and winter, as well as the strong competition we faced over spring break, paid off handsomely in an extremely well played victory over John Carroll," said Otterbein head coach Mark Anderson.

The Cardinals won five of six matches in singles, and two of three in doubles against the Blue Streaks today.

David Seckel and Kendall Coffman, each went 2-0 on the day.

Seckel teamed up with Will Willson to win first doubles, 8-6, and captured third singles, 6-3, 6-1. Coffman, with partner Tyler Gibbons, earned an 8-0 shutout at third doubles, and also won fourth singles, 6-4, 6-4.

The Cardinals took three more matches in singles action, winning on courts two, five and six.

Ryan Shutt captured second singles, 6-4, 6-0; Zach McDivitt took fifth singles, 6-2, 6-4; and Sam Lawless won sixth singles, 6-2, 6-3.

The Cardinals are scheduled to play a nonconference match at Cedarville University, 3:30 p.m., Wednesday before resuming OAC action Friday, hosting Muskingum University at 1 p.m.
