W's Muskingum Match M's Muskingum Match M's Cedarville MatchWESTERVILLE, Ohio—The Otterbein University men's and women's tennis team solidified their hold on first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) with a pair of victories over Muskingum University Friday in Westerville.
Heading into the final week of the regular season, the women's team, 15-2 overall, holds a one-game lead over the University of Mount Union and Ohio Northern University, each 6-1 in the league. The men's squad, 13-4 overall, sits atop the league standings with a 5-1 mark. Baldwin Wallace University sits second at 6-2.
Muskingum proved to be no match for the powerful Cardinals last Friday as Otterbein swept both matches by scores of 9-0. The men's team, coming off a 9-0 nonconference win at Cedarville University earlier in the week, shut down the Fighting Muskies, winning every game on all nine courts. The women's team followed suit, winning all but two games over singles and doubles play.
Both teams have conference matches remaining with Mount Union and Heidelberg University this week. The women's team is scheduled to travel to Mount Union Tuesday while the men's team will host the Purple Raiders Wednesday on Senior Day. Both matches are scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The Otterbein teams will close out the regular season with Heidelberg this Saturday.
