Cards Clinch at Least a Share of OAC Regular Season

WESTERVILLE, Ohio—The Otterbein University men's tennis team clinched at least a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular-season title, defeating the University of Mount Union, 8-1, Wednesday in Westerville.

With the win, Otterbein improved to 14-4 overall and 6-1 in the OAC. The Cardinals, with one conference match remaining, hold a one-game lead over Baldwin Wallace University for first place in the conference. Baldwin Wallace sits second with a 6-2 OAC record, and three teams share third place, each 5-2 in the OAC.

The Cardinals are scheduled to close out the regular season at Heidelberg University, 3:30 p.m., Friday.

The Cards swept through doubles, and Will Willson shut down his opponent, 6-0, 6-0, in first singles to give Otterbein a quick 4-0 lead in the match against Mount Union. The Cardinals followed with wins on courts two through five to give the team its fifth-straight victory.

In doubles play, Willson and David Seckel took the first court, 8-4; Ryan Shutt and Zach McDivitt won second doubles, 8-3; and Tyler Gibbons and Kendall Coffman captured third doubles, 8-2.

In singles, Shutt won court two, 7-5, 6-1; Seckel took third singles, 6-1, 6-4; Coffman captured fourth singles, 6-1, 6-2; and McDivitt won fifth singles, 6-0, 6-2.
