Match Results

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio—The Otterbein University men's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision to Baldwin Wallace University Saturday at the North Ridge Racquet Club in North Ridgeville.

The loss snapped an Otterbein eight-match win streak as the Cardinals slipped to 9-4 overall and 2-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). The Yellow Jackets improved to 13-1 overall and 2-0 in the OAC.

"We knew going into this match that Baldwin Wallace was very strong, and they certainly proved to be," said Otterbein head coach Mark Anderson. "The outcome came down to the last two matches played and, while we had some chances, BW came out on top. It won't get any easier, as we have matches this week against perennial powerhouse Ohio Northern on Wednesday and John Carroll on Saturday."

Baldwin Wallace took an early 2-1 lead, winning first doubles, 9-7, and second doubles, 8-3. Ryan Shutt and Kendall Coffman put the Cards on the board with an 8-1 win at third doubles.

Coffman, the only Cardinal to go 2-0 on the day, won fourth singles, 6-2, 6-4. Will Willson won first singles, 6-1, 6-4, and Zach McDivitt captured fifth singles, 6-3, 7-6.

Otterbein is scheduled to host Ohio Northern University Wednesday, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The Polar Bears, 8-3 overall, come into the match with a 2-1 conference record, and share third place in the OAC with Otterbein.
