WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Cardinal men's basketball team dropped a conference home game Saturday evening in the Rike Center, falling 86-65 at the hands of visiting Heidelberg University.

The Cardinals, coming into the game fresh off a victory over crosstown-rival Capital, suffered a bit of a letdown by committing 17 first-half turnovers and allowing the Berg' to build a 48-31 cushion entering intermission.

Otterbein (3-10, 2-4 OAC) trailed by 14 points with 12:48 to play in regulation, but Heidelberg kicked into gear with a  19-5 run over the ensuing five minutes to put the game away.

The Cardinals shot 56 percent from the field throughout the game, but went just 1 of 11 from downtown and committed 26 turnovers. Heidelberg (6-7, 2-4 OAC) only gave the ball away three times and, as a result, finished with a 28-0 advantage in points off turnovers.

Sophomore Jake Phillis scored a game-high 14 points on the Otterbein side, with freshman Matt Hughes chipping in 12 of his own. Freshman Aaron Mally played hard off the bench, making all four of his field-goal attempts and posting 12 points as well.
