WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein Cardinals posted a doubleheader sweep Sunday afternoon in a return to Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action, taking down cross-town Capital University by scores of 3-0 and 4-2 during a windy day at Fishbaugh Field.

The Cardinals, now 14-4 overall and 3-1 within league play, will have the middle of the week off before hosting Baldwin Wallace University Friday at 1 p.m.

Otterbein got a second-straight dominant pitching performance from ace Robert Kemer in game one against Capital, watching the sophomore turn in a complete-game shutout and move to 3-0 on the season. He struck out eight Crusader batters and did not walk anyone during the contest, which lasted less than two hours.

The Cardinals plated all three of their runs in the first two innings, receiving an RBI-single from Sean Kettering in the first before a pair of RBI ground-outs from Nich Pitzer and Taylor Hutchison in the second.

Capital grabbed a quick 1-0 lead in the second affair, but Otterbein answered right back with all four of its runs coming in the second inning, which started with a fielder's choice RBI from Pitzer before later capped by a 2-RBI single from Jake Simmerman after a Capital error extended the inning.

The offensive output would be enough for the Cardinal pitching staff, getting five frames from starter Taylor Ellis, three solid innings of relief from Adam Collier and Caleb Norton's fourth save of the season in the ninth.

Simmerman finished 2 for 3 at the plate in the second contest while designated hitter Ty Compton also tallied a multi-hit game.
