Fall Season Photo GalleryCedarville ResultsCEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Otterbein University men's tennis team wrapped up its final match of the fall season on Wednesday, falling to Cedarville University 9-0 at the Johnson-Murdoch Tennis Complex.
The Cardinals, who close out the fall season at 0-2 overall, battled the 2-0 Yellow Jackets in multiple matches throughout the six singles and three doubles competitions.
David Seckel assumed the lead spot in singles for Otterbein, dropping two sets to Matt Brumbaugh (6-1, 6-1). Seckel finishes the fall season at 1-4 in singles, having picked up his lone win in tournament play at the Kenyon Invitational.
Zach McDivitt competed in the No. 2 spot for the Cardinals, falling in a pair of sets to Ryan Shomo (6-0, 6-0).
Perry Williams was defeated in the No. 3 spot by Luke Ingles (6-2, 6-1). Williams concludes his fall singles campaign at 2-3 overall, including a 1-1 mark in dual singles competition.

Ben Keen fought back multiple times against Joel Clark, before eventually falling by a margin of 7-5 in both sets. Keen wraps up the fall season at 2-3 overall, with both wins coming in tournament play at the Kenyon Invitational.
Rounding out the Cards was No. 5
Tyler Wharton, who fell to Jonathan Class (6-3, 6-3); No. 6
Yannik Leusch forced a decisive third set before falling to David Carter (6-1).
In doubles play, Otterbein's No. 1 tandem of Seckel and Keen fell to Brumbaugh and Ingles (8-3); No. 2 McDivitt and Williams were outlasted by Shomo and Clark (9-7); No. 3 Wharton and
Derek Krieger were defeated by Class and Carter (8-3).
The Cardinals end the fall season with a 6-27 mark in singles competition and a 3-12 record in doubles matches.
"I was pleased especially with the way our bottom three courts competed at the Kenyon Invitational against some of the better teams in the region," said head coach Tyler Stephen.
Stephen added that despite the tough competition this fall, he has confidence in his team being prepared for the spring season."We played a very difficult fall schedule, so I'm confident it will benefit us so long as we can peak in March and April."Otterbein will resume play in February with a pair of dual matches, including a trip to Earlham College on Feb. 13 and a home match against Franciscan University on Feb. 20.
The Cards are on the road for the majority of March, making stops on their Spring Break Trip in Orlando, Fla., followed by a tri-match at Berea (Ky.) College. One final non-conference match at home against Albion on Mar. 19 separates Otterbein from Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play beginning on Mar. 30.
