Men's tennis to face Baldwin Wallace in OAC Semifinals

WESTERVILLE – After earning the No. 2 seed in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament, the Otterbein University men's tennis team begins its quest at an OAC title on Friday. The Cardinals will take on No. 3 seed Baldwin Wallace at the Lindner Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio after a 2-1 conference record this season.

In the regular season match – the season finale – the Cardinals rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Yellow Jackets.

Baldwin Wallace won the doubles point in the regular season matchup, winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Otterbein secured a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles thanks to Nikita Kitaev and Jake Chilcote. BW won the other two matches by 6-2 margins.

At No. 1 singles, Sanjan Shanker turned in a 2-1 OAC record, coming away with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Will Horvath the last time the two teams faced off. Senior Max Fickas has been solid at the No. 2 singles position, also posting a 2-1 conference record. He earned a gritty come-from-behind win in the BW regular season contest, winning 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). Rounding out the top three spots is Chilcote who won his match against Tyler Fenton, 6-4, 6-2.

Neil Reddy finished the year 2-1 in the OAC at No. 5 singles. He pulled away with a clutch tiebreaker win in the regular season match against the Yellow Jackets, setting up a decisive match on Friday.

Match time against the Yellow Jackets is currently scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The winner of Friday's match will compete in the Championship match on Saturday against the winner of Ohio Northern and Mount Union.
