WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Otterbein University men's tennis team recorded its 10th win of the season with a 6-3 defeat of Mount Union on Saturday afternoon at the Sanders Tennis Courts.
Otterbein (10-8 overall) improves to 4-3 in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play and posts its sixth-straight season with at least 10 wins. Today's match was also the final home regular-season contest for seniors
Kevin Adell (did not compete),
Zach McDivitt,
David Seckel, and
Will Willson.
The Cardinals took an early 2-1 lead after taking two of three in doubles, including a 9-7 win for the No. 1 duo of Willson and Seckel and an 8-4 victory for No. 3 tandem of McDivitt and freshman
Derek Krieger.
Otterbein then claimed four of the six singles matches, the top win coming from Seckel in the two spot over Mount Union's Jeff Williams (6-0, 7-5). Junior
Ben Keen also captured his match as the No. 4, topping Matt Bringman (3-6, 6-1, 4-2, ret.).
Freshmen
Perry Williams and
Tyler Wharton also won in singles as the No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Williams defeated Kyle Hicken (4-6, 6-1, 6-1) and Wharton took down Tyler Tareshawty (2-6, 6-2, 6-1).
The Cardinals conclude their regular season next Saturday at Heidelberg with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m. in Tiffin.
