Baseball Set to Host 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein University and its baseball program will serve as the host of the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament, scheduled for May 12-14 at Fishbaugh Field.

The Cardinals (31-9, 14-4 OAC) claimed their first conference regular-season championship since 2006 over the weekend, winning the league outright after sweeping Muskingum and finishing one game ahead of both Marietta and Baldwin Wallace.

Otterbein will open against fourth-seeded John Carroll (19-20, 11-7 OAC) on Thursday at noon before Marietta (25-15, 13-5 OAC) and Baldwin Wallace (21-18, 13-5 OAC) square off in the second game, scheduled for 3 p.m. The Pioneers earned the second seed over BW as a result of holding a tiebreaker.

Marietta enters as the defending champion, sweeping two games against host Heidelberg on the final day last spring to earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This will be the first time since 2006 that the four-team event, which is played in a double-elimination format, is hosted by a school other than Heidelberg or Marietta.
