Match Results

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Otterbein men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 defeat at the hands of Ohio Wesleyan Wednesday night, dropping its record to 1-3 overall on the young season.

The Cardinals now await their spring trip to Orlando, Fla., a venture in which the team will play four matches over the course of three days.

First up on the schedule is a matchup against Adrian on Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. A full schedule of the Cards' spring-break opponents can be seen on the team's schedule page.

Ohio Wesleyan came into the match 3-2 overall on the year and put Otterbein down 3-0 in the early going after sweeping all three matches in doubles play.

The closest margin in doubles for the Cardinals came in senior Perry Williams and sophomore Tyler Wharton's 8-5 loss to Felipe Duarte and Diego Venegas in first-doubles.

The Cardinals struggled to gain much traction in singles play, with freshman Logan Sullivan displaying the most positive outing in sixth-singles in a 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 battle against the Battling Bishops' Ryan Simon.

Classmate Riley Yost also battled in the first set of fifth-singles against Jacob Volbers, before falling 6-4, 6-0.

Yost currently stands as the Cards' leader in singles play with a 3-2 overall record, while Wharton and fellow sophomore Derek Krieger hold the team's top record in doubles play at 3-3 overall with a perfect 3-0 mark in dual matches.
