WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein men's tennis team shutout Bethany (W.Va.) 9-0 on Saturday afternoon inside the Clements Rec Center to open the spring portion of its schedule.
The Cardinals, now 3-0 on the season, found themselves ahead 3-0 following doubles play as the first match of the day in third doubles was won by default in favor of sophomore

Tyler Wharton and
Juan Vera notched an 8-0 shutout of the Bisons' Danny Booth and Tyler Beck in the second spot.
Freshmen
Connor Radune and
Jared Deel then rounded out doubles competition by outlasting Chris Ray and Drake Berlin in the top spot (9-7), boosting their doubles record to 2-0 on the year. The Cards are now a stellar 9-2 combined in doubles so far this season.
Otterbein carried its dominance into singles as Yost and Vera each won their respective matches in fifth and six singles in shut-out fashion in straight sets, while Wharton and Price also cruised to victory allowing just one point to their opponent in the second and third spots, respectively.
Radune then made it a clean sweep of Bethany with his win as the Cards' No. 1, battling to a 6-4 win in set one over Ray before powering to a 6-2 victory in set two. The Cardinals now have four players with three wins in dual singles play, led by Price, Yost, Vera and Wharton with undefeated records.
The Cardinals will return to action on their annual spring trip Mar. 4-8 in Orlando, Fla. Otterbein will face five teams in as many days in the Sunshine State, traveling along with the Cardinal women's team which is scheduled to play at the same venue.
