WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein men's tennis team fell 6-3 against Ohio Northern at home on Monday afternoon in an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) matchup.
The Cardinals, now 10-8 on the year, move to 4-3 in conference play with a matchup at Baldwin Wallace set for Saturday afternoon for their regular-season finale at 1 p.m. The winner of that match will decide fourth-place for next week's six-team OAC Tournament.
Despite an early rain storm and change of venue during play, the Cards managed to pick up a win in doubles play highlighted by a gritty effort in second doubles from juniors
Derek Krieger and
Tyler Wharton.
The duo battled ONU's Tim Kargl and Andrew Garcia right down to the match point before winning 8-6. Unfortunately the only other two points for the Cards came in first and fifth singles from freshmen
Connor Radune and
Jamie Price, respectively.
Radune took down the Polar Bears' Vinh Tai is quick fashion in the top spot (6-3, 6-3), while Price also made quick work of Cody Hurley in the five spot (6-1, 6-4). Krieger, Wharton and sophomore
Riley Yost each fell in three-set matches.
