BEREA, Ohio – The Otterbein men's tennis team suffered a narrow 5-4 loss at fourth-seeded Baldwin Wallace in an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament quarterfinal match at the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.

The Cardinals, which finish off the 2017-18 campaign with a double-digit win total for the eighth-straight season, went an even 4-4 in conference play this spring and do not lose a single player to graduation after four players reached the double-digit win mark in singles.

Otterbein (10-10 overall) was coming off a 6-3 loss in its regular-season finale at Baldwin Wallace this past Saturday, having lost a few close matches in singles which could have swung the scoring in its favor.

The Cards started the match strong by taking two-of-three in doubles, with sophomore Riley Yost and freshman Jamie Price upping their win total as a duo to eight after claiming third doubles 8-2.

Juniors Derek Krieger and Tyler Wharton then made it 2-0 for the Cards following another 8-2 margin of victory, this one coming in second doubles, before freshmen Connor Radune and Jared Dell were defeated 8-3 in the top spot.

BW then jumped in front for its first lead of the match after capturing third and fourth singles, before Yost evened the score at three apiece with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Alex Papke in sixth singles. Yost concludes the season with a team-best 14 victories in singles.

Radune then lost a tough bout in first singles to Dominic Prolifrone (6-2, 6-3), before Wharton again tied the match at four all after triumphing over Matt Harris in second singles (6-4, 7-6).

It was the Yellow Jackets' Michael Benotti who then topped Price in a thrilling three-set battle (6-4, 4-6, 4-1) for the match point.
