WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein men's tennis team defeated Transylvania 5-4 Sunday afternoon and claimed its fifth-straight victory, as the Cardinals now improve to 8-1 on the year while Transylvania falls to 3-8 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Cardinals started the out of conference match by earning two points in the doubles section.
- Tyler Wharton played a crucial role for the Cardinals by winning in third singles (6-3, 6-3) and won his doubles match 8-6 with Connor Radune as his partner.
- Otterbein once again showed its depth as Derek Krieger and Riley Yost earned a point from the fifth and sixth slots. Krieger and Tom Ohler won 8-2 in third doubles to give the Cardinals a much needed point.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Cardinals have won five-straight matches, which ties the longest streak since 2015.
- Krieger and Yost have combined to go 16-1 in fifth and sixth singles position, as Yost is a perfect 9-0.
- Otterbein is 9-0 in third doubles with four different duos recording a victory.
