WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Otterbein men's tennis team defeated Marietta 9-0 to earn its 10th-straight victory, as the the Cardinals now hold a 13-1 overall record and a 4-0 mark in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), while Marietta falls to 6-9 on the year and 1-3 league.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Cardinals cruised through the doubles portion, as Derek Krieger and Tom Ohler earned the one 8-0 victory. Jared Deel and Brandon Wall came away victorious by a score of 8-1, as Tyler Wharton and Connor Radune won 8-2.
- In the singles match, Wall took care of business in the first singles slot by earning his eighth victory of the year with a 6-2, 6-1 result.
- Radune won the first set 6-1 and bounced back in the second set after trailing 5-1, to win 7-6.
- Wharton, Ohler, Krieger and Riley Yost all came away with a 6-0, 6-0 result.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Yost recorded a "golden set" which is winning every single possible point in the first set. The junior won the first 39 points, of a possible 48, of the match.
- The Cardinals as a unit own an .833 winning percentage in both singles and doubles in dual matches.
- Otterbein has posted three straight 9-0 victories and swept Marietta 9-0 for the fifth time in a row.
- The Cardinals recorded their 10-straight victory to match the longest winning streak since the 2014 season when the team qualifed for the NCAA Tournament.
