WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Otterbein men's tennis team earned its 11th-straight victory by defeating Franciscan 9-0 Saturday afternoon, as the Cardinals have not lost a match in over one month. The Cardinals improve to 14-1 on the year, while the Barons fall to 7-12.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Cardinals jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, as Otterbein swept through the doubles portion with two 8-0 sweeps.
- Brandon Wall did a stout from the first singles position, as the freshman won 6-4, 6-2 and earned his fourth-straight victory. Connor Radune came away with the only 6-0, 6-0 result in second singles.
- Tyler Wharton and Tom Ohler both defeated their opponents 6-1, 6-0, as the each player is currently riding a five match winning streak heading into its upcoming battle against John Carroll.
- Derek Krieger cruised in his first set and won 6-0, while the senior had a more challenging second set but still came away with a 6-4 win.
- Riley Yost continued his consistent play this season by winning 6-1, 6-0 from the sixth singles slot.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Yost currently owns the best individual record with a 13-0 mark and has only lost one set this season.
- Wall has won his past four matches, with six of the eight set results being 6-2, 6-1 or 6-0.
- Heading into today's match, Krieger had defeated his last three opponents 6-0, 6-0 and is currently riding a ten match winning streak.
- Ohler and Wharton both have won nine of their previous 10 matches.
