WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein racked up two more Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Player of the Week awards to finish out the regular season Monday afternoon, announced through the league office.
Fifth-year senior quarterback
Bryce Hall received Offensive POW honors in football while junior forward
Gabe Sharrock brought home the same honor for efforts on the soccer field.
Hall (Jackson/Jackson) led a wild comeback across town at Capital, as the Cardinals delivered a 38-33 victory behind their veteran signal caller. The gunslinger completed 31 of 42 passes for a whopping 428 yards, narrowly breaking the previous Otterbein single-game record of 427 in the process. That mark had stood since 1969.
Hall threw three touchdowns compared to no interceptions, including the game-winning throw from 26 yards to freshman
Jakobi Alvin in the closing minute. The Cardinals have now defeated their rival for a third-straight time.
Football will look to carry that momentum into Saturday's contest at Marietta, scheduled for kickoff at 1:30 p.m.
Sharrock (Akron/Manchester) contributed a pair of notable outings to help the nationally-ranked men's soccer team remain unbeaten. He began the week with an assist during a 2-2 draw with Ohio Northern, nearly converting a header off a corner kick before teammate
Coby Stover was there to drive it home.
His standout performance came over the weekend at Capital, netting both goals in a 2-1 triumph that helped Otterbein clinch a share of the OAC regular-season title. Sharrock buried a header in the first half, and then collected a loose ball in the box later on in the 78th minute to break the deadlock.
Sharrock ranks second on the team in scoring at 21 points this fall, as Otterbein currently holds a 13-0-4 mark. The Cardinals are the No. 2 seed in this week's OAC Tournament, and will host a semifinal match come Thursday at 3 p.m.
