WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Cardinal track and field teams remained on campus Saturday afternoon to continue revving their 2022 indoor schedules, hosting the Otterbein Invitational inside the Clements Recreation Center.

While the team was not scored from an official "team" standpoint once again, the Cards continued getting into form with some quality efforts. See below for highlights and finishes from across the full day:

MEN:
  • Nick Agerter, back for Otterbein after not competing last year, won the pole vault with a height of 4.15 meters. He was a half-foot better than anyone else.

  • Staying in the field… Landon Burns cleared 1.86 meters to snag third on the long jump. His fellow field compadres, Logan Price (14.00m in the weight throw ) and Jayvaun Lane (6.36m in the long jump) garnered fourth.

  • The 4x2 relay of Cincere Engram, Jordan Bost-Floyd, Shamar Brittman and Kalani Booker claimed runner-up with a time of 1:36.

  • Booker (400m), Engram (500m) and Brittman (60 hurdles) also had top-four finishes individually in other events. Colin White came in just behind Engram in the 500.

  • Tyler Boales, taking a break from the long jump for a bit to nurse an injury, still managed to bolt the 60-meter straightaway in 7.10. That earned him fourth place.

  • Otterbein landed three in the top-eight placers of the 3K, led by senior Bill Daily with an 8:21.98 in third place. That effort lands him third all-time in program history.

WOMEN:
  • Gracie Dennison, reigning OAC Athlete of the Week, stayed in the win column for both the 60 hurdles and 60-meter dash. She ran 9.02 and 7.88, respectively, with the latter time besting John Carroll standout Lucia Cannata.

  • Emma Klosterman continued shaping in the field, taking second in the high jump (1.59m) and then third with a long-jump mark of 4.99 meters.

  • Lydia Baumgartner (26.85) took runner-up in the 200 meters, only topped by Cannata.

  • The 4x2 relay featuring Coree Gifford, Brooke Caldwell, Manaka Yamauchi and Addison Lilly teamed for a 1:55. Gifford was also second in the 400 meters at 1:02.41, crossing behind a competitor from Division I Ohio University.

  • Cassidy Shaver, coming off a PR last week in the 800 meters at 2:25.29, ran almost the same in going 2:25.83 this time around. That warranted third place.

UP NEXT:

Both teams will head over to Ohio Northern next weekend to participate in the annual Joe Banks Invitational. After that, the Cards have added a weekend date at the Ashland Open come February 4-5.
