Men's track and field sees six earn Academic All-District status

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Six members of the Otterbein University men's track and field team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.

Joab Bockstoce, David Hartman, Richmond Honkpo, Brady Pugh, Gabe Scialdone and Wyatt Slack each earned recognition. Honkpo advanced to the national ballot and is now under consideration for Academic All-American honors.

The award marks the first Academic All-District selection for Bockstoce, Hartman, Honkpo, Scialdone and Slack. Pugh earned the distinction for the second consecutive year after also receiving the honor in 2025.

Honkpo led the group with standout performances in the long jump and triple jump. He finished inside the top-10 in both events during both seasons. Honkpo qualified for the NCAA Championships in the long jump, earning Second Team All-America honors with an 11th-place finish indoors before closing the year as a First Team All-American with a seventh place finish at the outdoor championships.

Pugh collected his second straight Academic All-District honor after ranking 26th regionally in the indoor 5,000m run and fifth in the outdoor 3,000m steeplechase.

High jumpers Bockstoce and Scialdone also earned Great Lakes regional rankings during both seasons. Bockstoce finished 10th during the indoor season and third outdoors, while Scialdone ranked 22nd indoors and 45th outdoors.

Slack's accolade comes from achieving 34th in the indoor long jump. Hartman rounds out the selections with a 45th place showing in the 10,000m run during the outdoor campaign.

To be eligible, one must be a sophomore or higher in academic and athletic standing, hold a cumulative GPA of a 3.50 or better, and finish the year regionally ranked in the Top 50 in a single event (indoor or outdoor, per TFRRS).
