ADA, Ohio — A small group of Cardinals traveled north Saturday for the Polar Bear Final Qualifier, hosted by Ohio Northern University, where Otterbein turned in several strong performances in the final opportunity to improve marks ahead of NCAA selections.
Senior Charlie Dolliver highlighted the afternoon in the triple jump, turning in a record-setting performance. Dolliver recorded a personal best on multiple attempts, opening at 11.20 meters before improving to 11.58 and 11.78 meters. They followed with jumps of 11.57 and 11.76 meters, with a mark of 11.78 meters standing as both a meet record at the Polar Bear Final Qualifier and the new Otterbein all-time program record in the event.
On the track, the Cardinals saw a pair of strong efforts in the 60-meter hurdles. Junior Izaac Swope finished second overall, crossing the line in 8.18 seconds, while freshman Jackson Steider placed sixth with a time of 8.60 seconds.
The official list of qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will be released Sunday on NCAA.com.
