FINAL RESULTS
ADA, Ohio - ADA, Ohio – The Otterbein men's track and field team registered a second-place effort as a team following Saturday's action in the Joe Banks Invitational, hosted annually by Ohio Northern.
The Cardinals registered 98 points in the field of six teams, settling behind ONU and ahead of Earlham, Rochester, Defiance and Mount St. Joseph.
Nick Agerter delivered a new personal record of 4.35 meters (14-3) in the pole vault, remaining 10th on the program's all-time list.
Otterbein received a pair of wins on the track.
Liam Walits ran 2:34 to win the 1K, just one second shy of cracking onto the program's top-10 grid.
The Cards then finished 1-2-3 in the mile by way of
Gage Beireis (4:26),
John Nice (4:28) and
Jason Mehalic (4:29).
Ryan Estes crossed sixth to give the team strong representation in the 19-runner field.
Freshman
Kalani Booker took second in the 500 meters, and then teamed for another runner-up finish (3:35) in the 4x4 relay with Walits,
Cincere Engram and
Cal Yackin… who is now sporting a fresh look with bleached blonde hair and a solid mustache.
Third-place finishes came via
Landon Burns in the 60 hurdles and Engram in the 500 meters.
Otterbein will be back in action next weekend, heading north to participate in the Jud Logan Light Giver Open at Ashland.
