FINAL RESULTS

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Otterbein wrestling team continued getting into form over the weekend with a trip over to the Lycoming Invitational, as each Cardinal competed in multiple matches during the round-robin format.

The event was not scored from a team standpoint, although a nice chunk of Otterbein representative secured multiple victories on the day. Among the notable highlights:

Gary Steele, back competing after almost a year off, enjoyed a 3-0 day at 174 pounds which included a pair of bonus-point wins. Fellow newcomer Caiden Hooks also went 3-0 in his division… including a 10-0 major decision.

Rising freshman Michael Eckleberry ripped off a 3-0 day that saw all three pins come in less than two minutes. Heavyweight Billy Reed-Body also hit the trifecta in he upper section, notching a fall himself.

Zach Orseno, competing at 141 pounds, worked his way to a pair of hard-fought decisions and nearly went 3-0 on the day. He was leading that match before unfortunately getting caught. Fellow lightweight Noah Houchins (125) delivered two nice bonus-point wins.

Carter Mottley racked up two falls (including one just 38 seconds into the bout) while Zac Stray, Kyle De Moss, Joey Buckland, Cale Callahan, Jarrod Setliff and others were multi-winners.

Buckland notably avenged some previous losses to a Wiley Kahler from Lycoming with a 9-7 victory. Callahan had two bonus-point triumphs before a narrow 3-2 loss to Pat Ross of Cortland State. Ross used a second-period takedown to vault ahead and ultimately survive.

Setliff rattled off two falls in the first period but succumbed to Lycoming standout Gable Crebs.

Otterbein will have more than a full week off before launching Ohio Athletic Conference action at Muskingum.
