WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein men's track and field team settled in a three-way tie for fourth place at the Division III All-Ohio Championships inside Clements Recreation Center following a full Saturday of action.

The Cardinals, registering 43 points, finished deadlocked alongside Wittenberg and Wilmington in the field of 18 total schools. Mount Union won the meet going away while Ohio Northern and Case Western Reserve rounded out the top three.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Distance medley relay of Christopher Pinnick, Kalani Booker, Liam Walits and Cal Yackin earned runner-up (behind Case Western) in a time of 10:28.

  • John Nice hit the podium in the 5K, taking second place after covering the track in 15:10. Nathan Craft (fifth) and Jason Mehalic (eighth) also scored points.

  • Yackin later took fourth in the mile by running 4:18, with the trio finishing ahead all setting meet records.

  • Pole vaulter Nick Agerter grinded out another new personal-best height, ultimately clearing 4.44 meters (14-6 ¾) before coming up shy at the next height of 4.59. He settled in fourth place, one spot shy of an All-Ohio award, but still chalked up five points toward the team total.

  • Landon Burns took sixth in a competitive high jump field, clearing 6-1 ½ and contributing three points toward the team total.

  • Gage Beireis (8:37) and Walits (8:46) registered top-six outings in the 3K towards the end of the meet, which saw a pair of Case Western Reserve entrants break meet records.

  • The 4x4 relay of Yackin, Pinnick, Cincere Engram and Jamez Lynch finished in a logjam around the 4:35 window to culminate, taking seventh place despite a half-second away from fifth.

  • Lynch (triple jump) and fellow freshman Jayvaun Lane (long jump) and gained All-Ohio experience, finishing tenth in their respective field events.

MOVING AHEAD:
  • Otterbein will have a couple weeks to prepare for the OAC Indoor Championships (at Mount Union) later this month. In the meantime, the Cards are scheduled to visit the Steemer Showcase at Wittenberg.
