FINAL RESULTS
ASHLAND, Ohio – Despite waiting out inclement weather, both Otterbein Track and Field teams got back into action Saturday morning by taking part in the Jud Logan Light Giver Open up north at Ashland.
Friday's slate was canceled due to mother nature, but the one-day action (featuring mostly D1 and D2 schools) eventually launched inside the NISS Athletic Center in honor of the recent/long-time Eagles head coach. Logan, 4x U.S. Olympic hammer thrower, passed away just after the New Year.
Among the notable Cardinal highlights were:
- Gracie Dennison, the only D3 runner in the field, edged her own school-record in the 60 hurdles by going 8.92 seconds. Her previous best of 8.93 was posted last season in the prelims at the OAC Indoor Championships.
- Dennison also just missed a PR in the 60 meters by a narrow .002, sprinting the straightaway in 7.89.
- Gage Beireis, a passionate Cincinnati Bengals fan getting revved up for the Super Bowl, channeled that energy into an 8:38 in the 3K. That mark now ranks eighth all-time in program history.
- Nathan Craft (15:16) and Cameron Christopher (15:32) both registered top-10 finishes in the 5K, a field that consisted of nearly 40 runners.
- Bill Daily took fourth with another PR in the mile run, crossing fourth (side-by-side) with three other competitors all in the 4:11 range. He bested his recent effort of 4:12 to begin the season.
- Cal Yackin (4:16) finished 13th in the mile, which saw more than 60 entrants, and then also earned ninth of 65 runners in the 800 meters. He chalked up a solid 1:56 to crack top-five on the program's indoor records list.
- Emma Klosterman, reigning OAC Field Athlete of the Week, settled T-7 out of nearly 40 individuals in the high jump. She cleared 1.55 meters (5-1) to deadlock with counterparts from Wright State and Findlay.
- Cwinn Febus, competing unattached as usual this winter, took second in the 60 hurdles by going 8.25.
- Cincere Engram almost reached new PR's in both the 200 and 400 meters, posting times of 23.51 and 51.95 seconds.
- Cassidy Shaver recorded a new college-best time in her specialty of the 800 meters, covering the four laps in 2:24.10 to surpass her prior mark (2:25 and change) a few weeks ago.
- The men's 4x4 of Engram, Kalani Booker, Colin White and Jamez Lynch teamed for a 3:27.98, just missing the program's top-10 list by a half second.
