T&F: Cardinals Push Forward at Wooster Invitational

FINAL RESULTS

WOOSTER, Ohio – After taking last weekend off because of nasty weather coming through the Ohio area, both Otterbein track and field programs got themselves back into competition with a two-day Wooster Invitational.

The Cardinals chalked up plenty of positive results as spring season turns the corner into April, beginning Friday evening and carrying well into Saturday's slate. See below for many of the notable efforts:

MEN:
  • Cwinn Febus, back for a sixth year of competition coming through the wild pandemic, won the 110 hurdles in 15.02 and then took runner-up in the straight 100 at a smooth 11.14 seconds.

  • Nick Agerter (pole vault) and Mike Rennette (javelin) both took second place in their events. Agerter, who just missed the programs top-1-0 list, cleared 14-6 while Rennette had a best toss of 146-7.

  • Also in the field, Jayvaun Lane took fourth in the long jump while Logan Price took fourth in the hammer with a PR of 140-3.

  • Back on the track, Cincere Engram and Kalani Booker went 4-5 in the 400 meters.

  • John Nice (15:07) and Liam Walits (15:08) both snuck into the top five of the 5K.

  • Christopher Pinnick landed fifth of 33 runners in the 1,500 meters.

  • Landon Burns was fourth in the 110 hurdles behind Febus and the 4x4 relay of Engram, Booker, Lane and Alan Hatfield finished off the meet.

  • Brant Yocum (10:11), Garrett Miller and Cody Moore all competed in the 3K steeplechase on Friday, going 2-4-5 in the condensed field of six.

WOMEN:
  • Emma Klosterman, a returning outdoor All-American, got her newest campaign started nicely by winning the high jump. She cleared 5-3 ¾ and bested the field of a dozen.

  • Gracie Dennison made it a daily double on the straightaway, winning the 110 hurdles in 14.66 and then also the flat section at 12.56 seconds.

  • Also in the field, newcomer Ravyn Goodson (incredible work-study attitude with spring game management) had top-five results in both the discus and shot put.

  • Lydia Baumgartner was also strong in the sprints, taking runner-up in both the 100 and 200. She ran 12.91 and 26.73 respectively.

  • Coree Gifford took third of 14 runners in the 400 meters, covering the solo lap in 1:01 plus change.

  • Megan Carey (110H) and Peyton Carpenter (200m) both delivered top-five efforts as well.

UP NEXT:
  • Otterbein is slated to get back in action next weekend up in Alliance, traveling to Mount Union for the John Homon Open.
