WESTERVILLE, Ohio – For the first/only time this outdoor season, the Otterbein men's track and field team was able to sleep in their own beds and compete on campus in hosting the annual Twilight Meet across Friday afternoon… and well into the evening.

The Cardinals welcomed double-digit schools participating in the event, which saw a nice crowd come out and support on a beautiful day of weather. From a group standpoint, Otterbein took second on the list of 15 "teams" over 19 official events scored.

Additionally, a handful of Cards represented the team across town (both Friday evening and Saturday afternoon) at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Classic. See below for top highlights at both meets!

OHIO STATE (Jesse Owens Classic):
  • Bill Dily (3:51) and Cal Yackin (3:56) both took part in the 1500 Friday night, competing in a heat with a few runners that have a chance to make the World Championships for Team USA.

  • On Saturday, Cwinn Febus (14.77) and All-American Mike Rennette (14.81) both laced up in the 110 hurdles, while Gage Beireis unfortunately took a DNF in the steeplechase.
OTTERBEIN (Twilight Meet):
  • Rennette, who has more ham-threads these days instead of regular hamstrings, continued finding his form in a variety of events. He won the 400-meter hurdles at 55.05 and then notched a pair of runner-up lines, coming in the 110 hurdles (with a 14.77) and then also in the javelin (almost 46 meters)… before turning his sights on OSU come morning.

  • Nathan Craft also got into the win column (and then likely gave himself a shout on his Twitter Fan Page), besting the field of 56 individuals in the 5K. He posted 15:03 to top the next-closest runner by seven seconds. Liam Walits (fourth) and Jaden Watkins (seventh) also worked their way into the top 10.

  • Landon Burns took second in the high jump at 1.93 meters, matching the result of unattached "winner" Antone Truss.

  • Vincent Fisher took ninth of 43 sprinters in the 100-meter dash while Vincent Zeren was just .11 seconds behind. Zeren also crossed seventh in the 200, slotted only behind an entire handful of Mount Union entrants.

  • Brant Yocum finished midway through the 14-runner pack in the steeple.

  • Christopher Pinnick earned a fifth-place finish of nearly 50 runners in the 1500, covering the distance in 4:05.

  • Cincere Engram brought enough juice to sprint one lap in 50.73, good enough for fifth of 37 in the 400 meters. Kalani Booker was close behind in seventh place overall.

  • In the field… Matthew Baemel was fifth in the javelin, Jayvaun Lane was seventh in the long jump, Jamez Lynch was eighth in the triple, Logan Price was 10th in the hammer and Brock Pemberton was 13th in the shot. Price was allowed in on the running action later in the night, nearly breaking 1:00 in the 400 meters!
