FINDLAY, Ohio – It was a fourth-place finish for Otterbein at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships in men's cross country Saturday afternoon, with the league's annual event hosted at Hillcrest Golf Club.
John Carroll claimed the team title rather comfortably in the 8K event, with Ohio Northern and Mount Union next behind in second and third.
Once again, the Cardinals were led by senior
John Nice as the established veteran ran his way to becoming a 3x All-OAC performer. He finished sixth of 158 total runners after covering the course in 24:45, crossing the line by himself.
Payne Ratliff (31st) and
Christopher Pinnick (33rd) were next in line to help the Otterbein scoring, running 25:54 and 25:58 respectively.
The Cardinals ultimately had seven runners land between spots 31-42 on the individual board.
Chase Jackson (26:07) was 35th overall while
Jay Figgins was two seconds back in 37th.
Garrett Miller (26:12) had a Top-40 finish while newcomers
Corey Rafferty and
Mitch Green placed 41-42 in their first conference outings.
Wilmington All-American Simon Heys won the individual title at 24:15, coming in a full 16 seconds ahead of Ethan Domitrovich of John Carroll.
Otterbein will now gear up for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Akron come November 11 back at Silver Creek Metro Park.
