Box Score 1 ERIE, Pa. – It was a 2 for 1 special on opening weekend of the spring schedule for Otterbein Men's Tennis, launching the new semester of competition with road victories against Franciscan and Penn State Behrend.
The Cardinals
blanked Franciscan 9-0 on Friday afternoon before heading over to The Keystone State for a matchup against the reigning Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) champs. Otterbein battled through some rallies to eventually
stand on top 7-2.
FRIDAY FESTIVITIES:
- The Cardinals jumped all over the Barons in doubles and never looked back. Brandon Wall and Jamie Price posted an 8-0 shutout on the top line. Newcomer Joshua Mammen and Dylan Shook had to a work a bit for an 8-4 decision while Will Newberry and Boban Mihajlov prevailed 8-1.

- All players won their singles matches in straight sets, included Mammen and Shook delivering 6-0, 6-0 shutouts on their respective lines.

SATURDAY SLATE:
- Otterbein then took a different mix of just six players to Behrend less than 24 hours later, but stayed the course and improved to a 3-1 head-to-head record this season.

- Mammen, very locked in to the Australia/India cricket showdown this past week, teamed with Jake McDivitt at first doubles to eek out an 8-7 victory. Newberry/Shook won more handily while Nate Stevens and Colton Stamper joined the party for an 8-2 triumph of their own.

- The Cards then took all but one singles matchup, with Mammen unfortunately dropping a wild 11-9 breaker.

- McDivitt dug deep for a 7-6 outcome in his second set on the second line, while all other teammates won a bit more decisively.

UP NEXT:
- The Cardinals will have almost a full week off before heading to play the College of Wooster next Friday.
