FRIDAY RESULTS
ALLENDALE, Mich. – A quartet of Otterbein distance standouts ventured up north on Friday to compete against prime competition in the Grand Valley State "Big Meet," and they didn't disappoint in notching some memorable times.
Headlining the results was a school-record performance in the 5K by junior
John Nice, who ran 14:26 on the 300-meter track to take fifth in his heat against competition primarily from higher divisions. The time currently ranks him 16th nationally…
In addition, when converted to a 200-meter track result, his time of 14:36 achieves a notable piece of school history by eclipsing All-American/Hall of Famer Mike Sawicki's longstanding Otterbein record of 14:37 posted back in 2006.
Senior
Bill Daily, fresh off his 4:10 mile at Ashland, got himself into the 4:09 range to inch up inside the Top-15 nationally at the moment. He remains second all-time in program history (behind teammate
Cal Yackin) after conversion.
Senior
Nathan Craft hustled to a new PR himself in the 5K, working the track in 14:52 and resting in the 15:02 range after adjustment. He remains firmly in the program's Top-10 list.
Yackin, who currently ranks 12th nationally in the 3K, took the track looking to improve his season-best time but rested with a performance of 8:21. The 3x national qualifier is still firmly in the mix to get back in the NCAA Championships.
The rest of the Otterbein team will take part in the Tiffin Invitational across Saturday action. Follow live results
