MEN'S RESULTS
WOOSTER, Ohio – It was a tale of two different weekends for the Otterbein Tennis teams, as both the men and women ventured a bit north to play the College of Wooster at Aspen Racquet Club.
The women's side, despite going to the wire in multiple close battles, ended up on the low side of an 8-1 result Friday evening before the men's group responded with a nice 6-3 victory come Sunday afternoon.
WOMEN'S RECAP:
- All three doubles showdowns were absolute dogfights. The Cards earned their point via Lillia Walter and Aubrey McMahon prevailing 8-7 after a nail-biting breaker with a 7-4 margin.
Â
- Wooster collected the other points on lines one and three. Erin Storrer and Olivia Eckles barely came up shy in an 8-6 final, while Julia Gillin and Rachelle Moses absorbed a competitive 8-5 defeat.
Â
- The Fighting Scots took all singles courts albeit some back-and-forth exchanges. Moses (3) and Eckles (6) went the distance but fell in third sets.
Â
- Storrer went toe-to-toe with Wooster standout Otilia Oita on the top line before succumbing by tight margins of 6-4, 7-5. Walter dropped a wild 9-7 breaker in her opening set on the second line before later retiring early in the second frame.

MEN'S RECAP:
- Otterbein exacted some revenge after dropping the last two against Wooster, taking early momentum in doubles and benefiting from that margin later on…
Â
- Brandon Wall and Jamie Price worked hard to conquer their opponents on the top line, 8-6, while Joshua Mammen and Jake McDivitt pulled away for a much easier count of 8-2. Dylan Shook and Will Newberry almost made it a three-piece combo but were forced to swallow an 8-6 tiebreaker after holding strong all match.
Â
- The Cards earned two quick points in singles on lines five and six courtesy of Newberry and Mihajlov, while the top four courts all went to a decisive third set…
Â
- Mammen (6-4) and McDivitt (6-2) prevailed in their respective winner-take-all frames while Price and Wall came up ever so short.
Â
MOVING FORWARD:
- Both teams will have another mid-week off before getting back into action next weekend. The women's team (2-2) will play a trio of competitive matchups with Carnegie Mellon, Oberlin and Transylvania while the men (4-1) host just Transy on campus next Sunday morning.
